New year, new series! I've been cooking up this new little surprise for you with one of my real-life oldest, best friends and a creative one at that. She's pretty special and I can't wait to introduce her to you. Take it away Kacie!
Hello all! I am Kacie Baker, interior design student and forever friend of the Mrs. Jillian Dolberry. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be involved in interior design and architecture. However, when I was 18 and went off to college, I talked myself out of doing what I loved most for a broader job field. I graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and moved to Nashville in search of that guaranteed job that was waiting for me. Fortunately, I never found it. Instead, God put people in my life that give me huge, slap you in the face, signs that I needed to go back to school to pursue my passion of design. In the fall of 2013, I enrolled in the accredited Interior Design program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and haven’t regretted a single minute. I am reminded every day that success isn’t measured by the amount of money in your pocket or the “guarantees”, but of the risks and passion you have for whatever it is that gets you out of bed in the morning. When I was asked to contribute to the amazing Hazel Berry Design Co. blog, I was ecstatic! I could not be more thrilled to be a part of Jillian’s dream for this company and I hope you enjoy the little tid bits of fun design ideas that are inspired by Hazel Berry Design Co.
Don't you just love her already? I might be tearing up with how proud I am of Kacie. Do you ever just have such love and appreciation for a person that you get a little misty when you see how incredible they are?! Phew- glad I'm not the only one. Taking a leap is hard, and dreaming big is sometimes even harder. But she is living proof that is so much more rewarding than the alternative. I am honored Kacie will be sharing some of her design ideas on the blog in tandem with HB Design Co. prints! Ok, Kacie- you can have the floor back. :)
“Oh my dear, I love you so” … If you are like me, you get the winter blues after the holidays. The “Oh my dear, I love you so” print by Hazel Berry Design Co. inspired me to keep that holiday cheer going through the rest of the winter months! Instead of using distinct holiday themed décor, use color and warm natural elements to keep your home feeling festive!
I decided to go with a living room for this inspired design. All I kept thinking while looking at this print was cozy rustic cabin with a sophisticated mix. To me, a chesterfield sofa is the epitome of regal design! (Really, I’m obsessed with anything that’s tufted) The soft neutral fabric is the perfect background for the red, green and gold plaid accent pillow and luxurious faux fur pillows. The barn wood coffee table and faux cowhide rug brings in a punch of natural flare while mixing in the modern gold accent sphere.
In keeping with the holiday, but not holiday, motif, a wreath is more than necessary! Keep it simple and with a vine wreath with hints of white and glitter to show off your winter style. To bring some color back into the space, a decorative red berry tree or candle wreath just adds a POC (pop of color) to your winter wonderland.
Don’t let the cold weather get you down, all you need is a redecorated living room featuring a Hazel Berry print! I don’t know about you but all I need now is a warm fire, a mug of hot chocolate, and a “can’t put it down” book and I’m good to go!
Be inspired and inspire others! xo-K
